BAS Drawings

The point names displayed on the BAS submittal drawings shall contain point names that are the same as point names used in the trend files.

BAS Point Names

All point names across the campus shall be unique.

Point names such as

  • B1AHU5DATsp

Would indicate

  • Building 1
  • Air Handler #5
  • Discharge Air Temperature set point

If unique point names are not possible across the project, a combination of unique file/point names will be utilized.

A library or table is provided identifying the naming conventions and abbreviations used in the trend files. Trend point names will not change once a piece of equipment is considered Substantially Complete.

If it is possible for the operators or technicians to change the "descriptive" point names, a machine-level serial number will be used in the trend files and a mapping to a user-level "descriptive" point name will be provided.

BAS Controller Memory

The local controllers will have enough memory to store 15 minute trend data for all points before the trend data is periodically pushed to the host or “front end computer”.   The contractor will specify how much data can be stored at the local controller if communication is lost with the “front end computer”.   If communication is lost with the host computer (and local memory becomes full), the contractor will specify whether trending is (1) stopped or (2) older trend data is overwritten.

The contractor will identify the amount of controller memory provided and the amount of upgraded memory available, to accommodate increased trending frequency in the future.  The amount of points associated with air handlers and vav boxes are included in the “notes” section of this page.
